  • 49 tests · 16 typed commands · SQLite state

    Rust core

Accounts, sessions, the download engine and the launch supervisor live in one Rust crate — 49 tests passing — behind a typed command surface.

  • tauri 2 bindings

    React 19 webview

The UI is a React 19 webview built on the Tauri 2 API bindings. The host crate is the seam still being wired, so the webview runs in a browser preview meanwhile.

  • one mod set per instance, no cross-talk

    Mod management

Mods are attached to the instance they belong to, from the Mods screen. Changing your mod set never touches another installation.

  • runtime inventory · per-instance selection

    JVM handling

The launcher inventories the Java runtimes on your machine and picks the right one per instance, so you stop hand-managing JVMs.

  • token in keychain, never in SQLite

    Session in keychain

The device-code ladder — Microsoft account, Xbox Live, XSTS — is implemented in the Rust core, with the session in the OS keychain.

    Honest by default

No installer has been published. The downloads page lists all 5 planned artifacts with their real status — nothing is presented as available that is not.

Built around instances.

Every instance holds its own game directory, version, and mods. Create one in the wizard, name it, and play — the launcher isolates the rest from it.

  1. Add an instance

Name it and pick a version from the vanilla manifest. The launcher creates an isolated game directory for it, so nothing else on your machine changes.

  2. Sign in once

Sign in with a Microsoft account through the device-code flow. The session lands in your operating system's keychain and stays there — never in the launcher's database.

  3. Press play

The launcher inventories the Java runtimes you have, picks the right one for the version, and boots the game. No JVM fiddling, no command line.

Is MeowMC free?

Yes. There is no purchase, subscription, or premium tier — the launcher is one program and it does the same thing for everyone.

Which Minecraft versions does it run?

Instances are created against the vanilla version manifest, so any version Mojang still serves is selectable. The MeowMC server software itself targets Minecraft 26.3.

Which platforms does the launcher support?

Windows, macOS, and Linux — five installers are planned: x86_64 and ARM builds for Windows and macOS, and an x86_64 AppImage for Linux. The Tauri 2 host that ships them is the seam still being wired; the webview runs in a browser preview meanwhile.

How does sign-in work, and where does my session live?

Sign-in uses the Microsoft device-code flow: account, Xbox Live, then Minecraft services. The session token stays in your operating system's secret store — never in the launcher's SQLite database.

Can I use mods?

Yes. Mods are managed per instance from the launcher's Mods screen, so each game installation keeps its own set.

When can I download it?

Not yet. The launcher is at v0.1.0 pre-release, built from the in-repo core with 49 passing tests, but no installer has been published. The downloads page shows the planned artifacts and their real status.

Is MeowMC affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft?

No. MeowMC is an independent project. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB, and MeowMC is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by Mojang or Microsoft.

Watch the build.

MeowMC is at v0.1.0, pre-release — the Rust core passes 49 tests and the Tauri 2 host crate is the seam still being wired. No installer has been published; the downloads page lists every planned artifact with its real status.
